The Sorcerer's Apprentice Contest
Calling All Young Magicians!
Magician David Caserta will be performing his “Haunted Illusions’ show at The Strand Theatre in Shreveport, LA on Sat, October 24, and he’s looking for a young magician to serve as his ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’!
Applicants ages 5-12 should have a parent or guardian assist them with submitting this entry form and sending a video up to 2 minutes long of their magic trick.
All entrants receive 1 ticket to the show, but the winner will receive 4 tickets and appear on stage alongside David Caserta to perform their trick!
How To Become The Sorcerer's Apprentice
1. Complete and submit the entry form (button below)
2. Film your magician performing their trick (maximum video length 2 minutes)
3. Email submission video to strand@thestrandtheatre.com by midnight on October 16.
The Strand Staff and Board of Directors will vote on the eligible entries, and the winner will be announced on Tuesday, October 20!
The Sorcerer's Apprentice Contest - Official Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
1. Sponsor
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Contest (the “Contest”) is sponsored by The Strand Theatre, Shreveport, Louisiana (“Sponsor”).
2. Eligibility
The Contest is open to individuals who are 5-12 years old at the time of entry. Employees, board members, and immediate family members of The Strand Theatre are not eligible to participate. The Contest is void where prohibited by law.
3. Contest Period
The Contest begins on Friday, October 2, 2026 @ 10:00 AM and ends on Friday, October 16, 2026 @ 11:59 PM (the “Contest Period”). Entries submitted before or after the Contest Period will not be eligible.
4. Contest Details
- During the Contest Period, the Sponsor will accept entry forms and video submissions.
- Winner will be selected by a vote by the Strand staff and Board of Directors.
- Winner will be announced Tuesday, October 20 at 10:00 AM.
5. How to Enter
During the Contest Period, participants may enter by completing all of the following steps:
- Complete and submit the official online entry form. All entries must be validated by a legal guardian who consents to their participation.
- Submit a video of the entrant performing their trick to strand@thestrandtheatre.com by 11:59 PM on October 16.
- Limit one (1) entry per person.
5. Entry Requirements & Verification
- Sponsor reserves the right to verify and validate guardian as necessary to ensure safety of participating minors.
- Entries that are incomplete, inaccurate, illegible, or do not comply with these Official Rules may be disqualified at Sponsor’s sole discretion.
- Sponsor reserves the right to verify the validity of any entry and disqualify any participant who tampers with the entry process or violates these rules.
6. Prizes
Grand Prize (1 winner):
- Four (4) tickets to Haunted Illusions starring David Caserta on Sat, October 24 at 7:00 at The Strand Theatre in Shreveport, LA.
- A chance to perform alongside David Caserta and perform the winning trick on stage at the performance.
Entry Prizes (multiple winners):
- All eligible entrants will receive one (1) ticket to see Haunted Illusions on Sat, October 24 at 7:00 PM at The Strand Theatre in Shreveport, LA.
- Minors must be accompanied by an adult to attend the performance.
- All patrons require a ticket to enter.
Prizes are non-transferable, have no cash value, and may not be substituted except at Sponsor’s discretion.
7. Winner Selection & Notification
Winners will be selected by a vote of the Strand Staff and Board of Directors immediately following the Contest Period. Winners will be notified via the email address or phone number provided on the entry form no later than Tuesday, October 20, 2026 @ 10:00 AM. If a selected winner does not respond within 48 hours, Sponsor reserves the right to select an alternate winner.
8. Publicity Release
By entering the Contest, participants grant Sponsor permission to use their name, likeness, social media handle, and submitted photographs for promotional and marketing purposes in any media, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.
9. Release & Limitation of Liability
By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless The Strand Theatre, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from any and all liability arising from participation in the Contest or acceptance or use of any prize.
Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, or corrupted entries; technical failures; or unauthorized human intervention in the Contest.
10. Social Media Disclaimer
This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram or Facebook. Participants release Instagram and Facebook from any responsibility related to this Contest.
11. General Conditions
Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Contest if fraud, technical failures, weather conditions, or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity of the Contest. Sponsor’s decisions regarding all aspects of the Contest are final and binding.
12. Privacy
Information collected from participants is subject to Sponsor’s privacy practices and will be used for contest administration and, where consent is given, future marketing communications from The Strand Theatre.
13. Governing Law
The Contest and these Official Rules are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to conflict of law principles.
